About

Hana L. Goshu

PhD Candidate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Biography

Hana L. Goshu is a PhD candidate in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where her research develops artificial intelligence for three-dimensional visual perception.

Her work asks what can be recovered about a three-dimensional scene when the available images do not fully determine the answer. She has built five complete systems on neural radiance fields and 3D Gaussian splatting, covering 3D object detection, reconstruction from very few views, egocentric video, efficient training and anti-aliased rendering. Her papers appear in Neurocomputing, at the ACM International Conference on Multimedia and at APSIPA ASC, and she also publishes physics-informed machine learning with uncertainty quantification in Applied Soft Computing and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Software Engineering, and has a CGPA of 4.00/4.00 in her doctoral studies. In 2025 she received the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Graduate Student Research Grant as one of 11 recipients worldwide, which supported an eight-month research attachment at Idaho State University. She has taught for seven academic terms at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and has reached more than 200 school students through STEM outreach focused on women in science and engineering.
